Overview
Failure to achieve pregnancy is a condition called infertility. It is getting quite common in both men and women these days. Once a patient is thoroughly checked by a gynecologist, they may require tubal patency (female reproductive tract evaluation) as initial work up.
Symptoms
The only major symptom of infertility is when a person is unable to conceive. Men and women can have different signs such as:
Irregular Menstrual Cycles (Women)
No or Delayed Menstrual Cycles (Women)
Hormonal Problems (Men)
Extra Hair Growth (Men)
Causes
There can be multiple causes that can affect both men and women. Some of the major causes of infertility can include:
- Premature Ejaculation (Men)
- Genetic Disease (Men)
- Damage or Injury to Reproductive Organs (Men)
- Ovulation Disorder (Women)
- Urentine Abnormalities (Women)
- Early Menopause (Women)
Diagnosis
Other than the usual sexual history collection, a doctor can perform the following tests to identify the exact cause and suggest the best treatment possible. Evaluation and tests may include:
Ultrasound
Blood Tests
Ovarian Reserve Check
Semen Analysis
Genetic Test
Biopsy
When to See a Doctor
Make an appointment right away if any worrisome symptoms appear.
Treatment
In most cases, couples can conceive without any treatment by trying again and again. However, some may need tubal patency (female reproductive tract evaluation). It’s a laparoscopic procedure in which a dye is inserted to check the potency of tubes in real-time. Infertility workup is done in collaboration with gynecological experts.
Risks, Complications & Preventions
A Gallstone Surgery is quite common. The patient is usually discharged on the same day or a day later, if there is not any major complication. Gallstones can be prevented by taking the following healthy measures:
- Maintaining a Healthy Weight
- Regular Exercise
- Intake of Anti-Inflammatory Foods and Drinks
