Make an appointment right away if any worrisome symptoms appear.
Treatment
SLAP injuries can be treated with the help of anti-inflammatory medicines and physical therapy. Medication can be effective in reducing pain and swelling. Specific exercises will help restore muscle strength and movement. If the condition fails to improve with medication and exercise, then the doctor may recommend surgery to fix the problem. It can be done by using the latest arthroscopic techniques which involve making small incisions to evaluate, remove or reattach the torn part of the tendon.
Risks, Complications & Preventions
A physical therapy program is advised by the doctor to facilitate the recovery process. Simple stretching exercises will help you regain your muscle strength and prevent shoulder stiffness. Sports activities can be resumed within 3-4 months after consulting with your doctor.
