Treatment
Ovarian cancer’s treatment will depend on its stage, patient’s overall health, and response to the treatment. If the cancer is at an early stage, the doctor may only remove the affected ovary and its fallopian tube. This will not affect the woman’s fertility.
However, if cancer has spread to an advanced level, cytoreductive surgery would be recommended to eradicate cancer completely. This involves the complete removal of ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, lymph nodes, and lining of abdominal tissue.
Risks, Complications & Preventions
It is not possible to eliminate the risk of developing ovarian cancer completely. However, it can be prevented by birth control pills, breastfeeding and pregnancy.
